Here is a book I created to help my students work on the word look. It is simple and accomplished the task. I hope you enjoy it.

Sight Words

I have a great new idea from a friend on how to teach sight words. Since my first year of teaching, I have used sight word cheers that two teachers in my district had created. These were great but my students this year did not seem to be remembering the words even after practicing everyday. I have started a password my students whisper to me every time they enter the classroom. This is a quick way to check which students are recognizing the words and which ones need a little extra help. The other added benefit is it keeps my students from getting crowded in the cubicle area.

All Day Kindergarten

The year is half over for our school district and it seems like we have just begun. Our half day kindergarten program does not allow us to cover all the material we need to get to in a single day. Luckily, our district has passed all day kindergarten for next year. I am currently looking at schedules for how to set up my classroom for an all day program versus the half day program I am currently familiar with. If anyone has any great schedules, please share.
